Cruising Calendar

SHYC CRUISING CALENDAR 2020

All dates are those planned but every boat is free to arrive and depart before or after the dates, as they wish.  Both Power and Sail boats and welcome on all the cruises.  All trips will of course be dependent upon the weather. Other trips may be added during the year.

Due to the Coronavirus situation at the moment, the Cruising programme has been suspended for the time being. As soon as the situation shows signs of improvement we will notify you of the revised Cruising programme.

 

Shakedown Cruise to Brighton

Two Week Summer Cruise – West Country

Like all our cruises, our annual fortnight cruise is open to both sailing and powerboats and this year we are aiming to go to the West Country.  How far we get will be down to the weather, but in the past, we have made Falmouth comfortably.  This year some of our members are thinking of going to the Scilly Islands.  We hope for good sailing weather, and we know there will be lots of social activities!

One of the towns biggest events is always great fun to watch from the sea. Take some friends out on your boat for the event then come and party in the Club on the Friday or Saturday night and enjoy the entertainment.

 

SHYC Regatta Weekend

Saturday 29th August to Monday 31st August

This is our Flagship event where we have the opportunity to open our Club up to the public to show them what we have to offer. We combine great yacht racing with onshore entertainment and activities in the harbour.

 

Commodores sail past

Saturday 5th September – late afternoon

Dress your boat up and join other members as we sail around the harbour and salute the Commodore. Afterwards join in the big party in the Club.

 

Visit to Le Treport

These are provisional dates and will be confirmed once the Le Treport harbour master has given his approval.

Saturday 12th September       We will be entertained by the Le Treport yacht clubs

Sunday 13th September          Return to Eastbourne

This is an excellent weekend when we are entertained by our friends at the Le Treport yacht clubs.  It’s always a weekend not to be missed.  Several members opt to extend the trip by spending a couple of extra nights in Dieppe.

 

Trafalgar Dinner

Saturday, 17th October

Join your friends, crew and others members for this traditional Black Tie Event that celecrates the life, sucesses and victories of our national hero, Lord Nelson.  Held in The Royal Sovereign Suite, this is one of the Club’s traditional formal evenings, and is very popular.

 

Laying Up Supper

Saturday, 28th November

Another popular Black Tie dinner, this evening represents the end of another yachting season.  There are stories, presentations and prizes prompting great memories of yet another (hopefully) successful season on the water!
